Filmmaker Wanted to Lead Young People’s Film Academy

Submitted by B-zene Admin on Wednesday, 19 November 2008No Comment

Tyneside Cinema and Northern Lights Film Festival are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced filmmaker to help shape and oversee the delivery of the Northern Stars Academy.

The successful person will receive support on production and co-ordination from YIPP films and Tyneside Cinema and on content from a variety of industry professionals. The contract runs until April 2009, with the majority of the delivery taking place between February and April.

Aimed at 15 - 18 year olds, the Northern Stars Filmmakers’ Academy aims to bridge the gap between academic study available in the statutory and FE sectors and the professional film industry. It will offer its members a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of the filmmaking process - from scriptwriting and casting through to directing and editing. The Academy is focused around skills development through production, starting with a training programme and culminating in a residential Film Camp in the Easter school break. During this time the group will shoot their film(s).
