I set up another WordPress to experiment with this but thought, hang on, experiments should happen here even if it means changing the Roaming Acronyms Theme (Skin) or even occasionally breaking the blog so that at least all the session notes are here.
I tried a plugin and a skin here http://tvcm.co.uk/photo/ without total success. The plugin was photoQ and the skin was iQ2 although we’ve since reverted to a vanilla WP theme. This should have worked better – see example http://www.whoismanu.com/iq2-wordpress-photoblog-theme/
Deagle recommends the NextGen plugin which I will try. I’ve looked at the Coppermine Gallery software but I think it’s too complex for my needs so maybe a WP skin and plugin combom will do it.
What I’m wanting to do is:-
- Create image collections that are often Heritage and archive collections
- Searchable by date and keyword
- presented in various ways such as date timeline or by topic (eg buildings, occupations, families)
- Children are often involved so a degree of moderation is needed for uploading
This might prove to be a useful resource http://www.photoblogs.org/
Will go ahead and add the plugin.
[edit to add] Ok I’ve installed Deagles recommended plugin. WP’s amazing one click install is lightning fast and easy.
