A partnership between Destinations UK online centre (Saltburn) and Tees Valley Community Media (University of Teesside) has led to a successful bid into the University for Industry’s (UFI) Social Inclusion Demonstrators funding stream. The partnership will be one of only 20 UK projects that will seek to demonstrate that ICT and the skills to use it can benefit individuals, families, communities and society itself and enhance “Social Inclusion”. UFI will appoint researchers to follow the S.I.D.’s and The University of Teesside’s School of Social Sciences are hoping to perform a study of the Teesside element. In awarding the funding UFI said of the Teesside bid…….. “The panel was very impressed by the strong innovation element to your bid, particularly the commitment to developing community media and how you will work with local partners to attract the very hardest to reach members of your community to be part of the Digital Village.
