The Machinima produced in 2009 with the Police was well received - view it here.
The subject matter was anti social behaviour. The (virtual) police
arrived in a Tardis (Time Machine) but departed in a Space Shuttle
leaving out two happless locals to accidently start her up and head
back to the past. Thus the premise for a new film evolved where the
characters travel back to real historical events.
This involved many local people in all stages of the production, the
police again, the school, the mining museum, the history group. Add to
this a host of participants all over the world. Some of the
participants were recruited in Second Life itself but others were
recruited though real world connections and then brought into Second
Life. People from FINLAND played some of the parts and the three
Finnlanders came over to England for the screening. Voice parts were
recorded to Soundcloud from participants in Austria, Lithania and
Finland. The credits take a full 90 secs to scroll by because of the
numbers involved. There are Real Names, Second Life Names and then
Finnish names which look more like SL names.
The film played in a theatre this May to full houses. I will embed it
below in two parts and in good old movie tradition include some "making
of" clips afterwards.
